Torino boss Renzo Ulivieri took on the team that fired him last season, but suffers more humiliation with a crushing 4-0 defeat.
Parma had a strong start and after Adriano's fierce free kick, Matteo Brighi ran through the defence and drilled a low drive past Luca Bucci. The Stadio Delle Alpi evidently brings good luck to the former Juventus midfielder.
Bucci proved decisive soon after to bravely block a Hidetoshi Nakata counter-attack.
However, the goalkeeper was perhaps at fault for Parma's second goal. Adrian Mutu curled a splendid free kick from 30 metres that slotted inbetween Bucci's outstretched hand and the near post.
Moments later Nakata chipped the goalkeeper, but his effort thumped the crossbar of an open goal. The Japanese international wasted another fine chance before the break by opting to pass back instead of going for glory on a counter-attack.
Torino only started to make an impact in the lead-up to half-time with a Cristiano Lucarelli solo effort palmed out for a corner and Gianluca Comotto's header.
But at the dawn of the second half Adriano controlled a Nakata cross with his chest and volleyed in from eight yards to extend Torino's agony.
The Granata all but gave up at this point and Adriano nodded in another Nakata cross.
