Bologna today proved that they are a real close nit team managing to obtain the draw when everyone thought it impossible (at the 92nd minute of the match) after having played 70 minutes with the man disadvantage.

After only 7 minutes the referee decided not to give Atalanta the advantage (after Castellini's hand ball on the goal line) and sent the Bologna defender off awarding the Bergamasc a penalty which Doni transformed rather easily.

The red and blue's manager Guidolin, changed the defence from a 4 man one to a 3 man one and this proved to be a mistake as Atalanta made it 2-0 with a brilliant goal by Berretta who volley the ball past Pagliuca from outside the area. Bologna's manager then decided to change back putting Gamberini on for Pecchia (an offensive midfielder) moving a midfielder onto the line of defenders making it a 4.3.1.1 formation.

With 9 minutes left in the first half the visitors managed to score with Olive who also volleyed a shot from outside the area, this time beating Taibi. In the second half Bologna continued to have the psychological advantage and also thanks to one of Cristiano Doni's few bad days put immense pressure on the black and blues in more than one occasion.

Unfortunately for Vavassori Zauri had been forced to leave the pitch injured and Zenoni had to follow suit in the very moment Atalanta had had Beretta sent off with no more substitutions left (as Rinaldi, Comandini and Pinardi had come on for Zauri, Saudati and Colombo) so Bologna used the man advantage that their opposition had not taken advantage of and in the dying minutes of the match managed to draw with a rather fortunate goal by Brioschi.

Bologna can consider this draw even more important than a victory for the very way they managed to obtain it whereas Atalanta will have to think hard at want they did wrong as there is no-one to blame (other than themselves) if they lost 2 points after having had a 2 goal and a man advantage form the 12th minute of the first half.
