Is the Champions League the new target for Francesco Guidolin's Bologna? It just might be after his men defeated Inter 2-1 to go 5th on Sunday afternoon at the Renato Dall'Ara. Second-half strikes from Fabio Pecchia and Lamberto Zauli did the damage to Cuper's nerazzurri who could have gone provisional top had Bologna been beaten. Inter generated a couple of good chances in the first half with Ventola's 9th minute hit deflected luckily for a corner and Luigi Di Biagio's stoppage time header pulling a double save out of Pagliuca. But midfielder Pecchia grabbed the lead after the goalless first period when a Massimo Tarantino cross caused Inter keeper Toldo and defender Grigoris Georgatos to get confused, allowing the former Juve man to net. Zauli seized his opportunity 9 minutes later when he latched onto a Julio Cruz ball and zagged past Nelson Vivas before unleashing a powerful drive past Toldo. Inter came back through Clarence Seedorf late on when the Dutchman marauded forwards and blasted past a helpless Pagliuca but it failed to launch a comeback and Bologna's home crowd savoured an unexpected and impressive win. From Bologna's official site : We can't forget the great prestation of Matteo Brighi, voted as best player on the field. | ![](/imagelib/sitebuilder/layout/spacer.gif) |
